The Ice Age, also known as the Time of Ice and the Time of the Eternal Snows, was a period of extreme cold in Dominaria lasting from 450 AR to 2934 AR. It was initiated by the Sylex Blast at the end of the Brothers' War, and prolonged by the magic of the planeswalkers Leshrac and Tevesh Szat, until Freyalise cast her World Spell to end it.
History
The Ice Age lasted — depending on where one places its beginning — over two thousand years. It is a period that, save for its very end, is largely lost in Dominaria's historical record. As a result of the period's opaqueness to historians, most on the plane assume that it was a quiet period. In reality, it saw the birth of the modern nations of Terisiare and the refinement of magic into its present state. It was a time when planeswalkers held sway over the world, when great beasts evolved to battle the cold, and when mages sought out the greatest secrets of their arts.
The Ice Age generally referred to in history is the one from the time of the kingdom of Storgard until the casting of the World Spell. The age following is known as The Thaw.
