Praetor is a creature class used for cards that depict leaders of dark forces.
New Phyrexia
New Phyrexia introduced the subtype with a cycle of five mythic rare legendary creatures, one per color, representing the Phyrexians' rulers and the different philosophies among the Phyrexian army regarding what exactly New Phyrexia should look like. Beginning in Kaldheim and finishing in Phyrexia: All Will Be One, a new mega-mega cycle of Praetors was created. This cycle showed new takes on each of the five Praetors while still following the design philosophy of the original cycle. March of the Machine created a third cycle of Double-faced cards, showing the praetors on the front side and a Saga of their stories and goals on the back side.
