Fall of Tol Sirion

After Dagor Bragollach, in FA 457, a large army of Morgoth, led by Sauron and composed of werewolves and Orcs, attacked first Tol Sirion and then the fortress of Minas Tirith. Orodreth and his army could not withstand this force, and Tol Sirion fell quickly.

After Dagor Bragollach, in FA 457, a large army of Morgoth, led by Sauron and composed of werewolves and Orcs, attacked first Tol Sirion and then the fortress of Minas Tirith. Orodreth and his army could not withstand this force, and Tol Sirion fell quickly. Later, sons of Fëanor, Celegorm and Curufin, with some cavalry units, came to their aid and rescued Orodreth, enabling him to escape. The trio then went south to Nargothrond with the survivors. Sauron took command of the fortress and changed its name to Tol-in-Gaurhoth.
