Skirmishes of the Land of Bow and Helm

Túrin and his band of bandits lived for some time on the Amon Rûdh hill, where the dwarf Mîm had taken them. During this time, Túrin refused to return to Doriath.

History

Túrin and his band of bandits lived for some time on the Amon Rûdh hill, where the dwarf Mîm had taken them. During this time, Túrin refused to return to Doriath. Finally, one day Beleg unexpectedly arrived on the Amon Rûdh hill and joined Túrin and his band of bandits.

Battle

In the early days, although the band of outlaws was not large in number, they began defeating Orc forces in the surrounding areas. They later established several fortresses in the vicinity, and as the Orcs could not stop them, the band quickly gained great fame. Thousands of people and Elves from all over Beleriand, who were dispossessed and alone and had participated in previous wars, joined them. Over time, they grew into a large army and became the most talked-about region in all of Beleriand. Túrin and Beleg, as the two leaders, cleansed almost all of western Beleriand of Orcs and evil. Because of Beleg's famous bow and Túrin's dragon helm, the region was named the "Land of the Bow and Helm".

Aftermath

But the fame of these two captains and their region reached Angband. Morgoth realized that Túrin was the one wearing the Dragon-helm, and he sent his most skilled spies to the region, ordering a surprise raid. Attacked by a very large army of Orcs, the Elves and Men were defeated, and Amon Rûdh fell. Túrin was taken prisoner and Beleg was severely wounded. The Orcs left the region to take Túrin to Angband.
