- Varda forms the Valacirca and sets it in the far north of Middle-earth as a challenge to Melkor.
- Melian ascends Mount Taniquetil to see the new stars and then leaves Valinor for Beleriand.
- The Elves, Elder Children of Ilúvatar, awake at the shores of Cuiviénen in the far east of Middle-earth, at first seeing the stars of Varda. They are numbering 144 in total and led by three Elf-fathers: Imin lord of the Minyar, Tata lord of the Tatyar, and Enel lord of the Nelyar.
- The First Age begins.
