Warlord of Mars: Fall of Barsoom #1: The Tide of Battle

100,000 years before the time of John Carter! Barsoom is a dying world: its once mighty oceans are receding and its atmosphere grows more tenuous by the day.

Tak Nan Lee is an environmental scientist who sees the future doom of life on Barsoom unless the atmosphere can be maintained by a life-giving air filter plant. His idea is to make the atmosphere safe for every inhabitant on the planet. However, an evil Jeddak is setting decrees that will limit who receives the precious oxygen and thus ensure the extinction of whole races.

On a routine mission, Tak Nan Lee intercepts a terrible battle between the Green Hordes and the emerging Red Martians. The green warriors are driven away, but virtually every red warrior is found slain. As the scene closes, an injured red woman is discovered. Tak Nan Lee approaches her, but can he truly help her in her condition?
