Overview
Hestia is the unassuming goddess of the hearth and the home, and as such is venerated within all Olympian temples. Hestia is for the most part uninvolved in the quarrels, politics and escapades of the other Olympian deities. Instead, she prefers to focus on her role as a simple house deity, honoured with simple sacrifices, by simple people, on tiny domestic altars.
Description
Hestia appears as a young woman with a gleam in her eyes like dancing firelight.
Holy symbol
Hestia's symbol is a hearth.
Favored weapon
Hestia wields a dagger.
Realm
Great Wheel cosmology
In the Great Wheel cosmology, Hestia resides within the planar realm of Olympus, which is located on Arvandor (also known as Olympus), the first layer of the Olympian Glades of Arborea. She maintains a small unassuming realm among the huge realms of her fellow deities.
Olympian cosmology
In the Olympian cosmology, Hestia resides within the outer planar realm of Olympus, a great mountain which stands at the center of the world. This mighty peak rises so high above the world, that its heights form a distinct planar realm. It serves as home to the majority of the Olympian deities, not including Hades, and each deity maintains their own personal domain within this realm.
Worship
Priests of Hestia are usually common people, and often farm the land or work at some trade in addition to organizing services dedicated to the worship of Hestia. Her priests bless new homes, consecrate the hearth altars found in nearly every home, and conduct ceremonies related to family celebrations, such births, birthdays, and other rites of passage.
In Spelljammer
The inhabitants of Greatspace revere the gods and goddesses of the Greek pantheon, especially Zeus, meaning that Hestia can be considered a native deity.
