Description
The Horg are a race of highly aggressive winged humanoids who have adapted to living in the void of wildspace, and are native to the asteroid field known as the Grinder in Greyspace. A group of Horg attacked an unnamed hammership and killed the entire crew except for the helmsman, a man named Zebart. They forced the human spellcaster to pilot the vessel, and using simple hand gestures directed him towards a small elven outpost located in the Grinder. When they arrived, they used the ship's heavy weapons to bombard the asteroid base in preparation for a direct assault.
The outpost responded with its own defensive siege weapons, while an elven man-o-war named the Penultimate tried to drive off the attacking ship. Unfortunately, the elven vessel was outclassed and was severely damaged in the battle: most of the crew were slain and the ship itself was incapacitated. This allowed the horg to resume their attack on the outpost, even mounting a direct assault before being interrupted by a passing ship.
The horg have a raiding culture, attacking both ships and asteroid communities throughout the Grinder. Of great concern to others was the fact that this was the first recorded instance of the horg using a spelljamming ship and its weapons to carry out a raid. Previously, the horg had simply abandoned any ship they captured, allowing it to drift in space after killing its crew and looting its cargo. Nobody was sure if this was an isolated incident, or if the horg were becoming more sophisticated in their view of tools and equipment.
Crew
The hammership's full complement consisted of 55 horg, while the helm was powered by a captive spellcaster named Zebart. While 30 horgs undertook a direct assault on the outpost, the rest remained onboard to operate the heavy weapons in support the attackers, and to ward off any approaching vessels.
