Overview

The Moth is a voidworld, without an atmosphere, and is completely devoid of life. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 15,000 miles (24,000 kilometres) above the photosphere's surface. It is also tidally locked, meaning that one hemisphere continuously faces the Sun while the rest is in perpetual shadow.

The hemisphere that faces the sun, known as Brightside, is constantly exposed to the scorching heat and dazzling brilliance of the sun, and is several thousand degrees Fahrenheit. In contrast, Nightside, which faces away from the sun, is brutally cold. There is a twilight band around the Moth where only a small sliver of the sun is visible above the horizon. Within this band, which is only a 100 yards (30 metres) or so across, the temperature is moderate.

Inhabitants

The Moth is devoid of life. However, daring explorers have used the Moth as a base from which to study Liga close-up, without exposing themselves or their ship to the heat of the Sun.
