Lunitari (deity)

This article is about the deity Lunitari; if you are looking for the moon of the same name see here.

Overview

Lunitari was originally the divine personification of mysteries; however, when she and her cousins chose self-imposed exile to be closer to Krynn, she chose to incarnate her power into Krynn’s red moon. Lunitari is focused on discovering the endless mysteries and secrets that can be found within magic. She is a capricious and mischievous presence in the heavens, orbiting between the ponderous trail of Solinari and the rapid cycle of Nuitari, always pursuing the balance.

Lunitari is the daughter of Gilean, and is said to have sprung fully formed from his thoughts.

Description

Lunitari appears as a Red Robe wizard, typically as a vivacious young half-elven or human woman with red hair and an alarmingly devious smile. When manifesting on the Red Moon, Lunitari appears as one of the inhabitants, either a watcher beholder-kin, a hadozee, or a DeGleash plasmoid.

Holy symbol

Lunitari's holy symbol is a red circle or sphere.

Celestial symbol

Lunitari is associated with the Red Moon, Lunitari. An avatar of Lunitari is almost always in residence on the moon, frequently mingling with the inhabitants in the guise of one of their forms. The moon can be used by Lunitari as a powerful wizard's eye or giant crystal ball to view events across the sphere, as she feels it is important to stay close to Krynn, where the other gods are prone to meddle. However, Lunitari finds herself frequently frustrated as either Nuitari or Solinari (or both) is always hidden behind Krynn, and she is unable to observe them directly.

Favored weapon

Lunitari does not wield a weapon, preferring to use magic.

Realm

Krynnish cosmology

In the cosmology of Krynnspace, Lunitari once resided within the Hidden Vale, alongside the rest of the Gods of Balance, but has since moved to the Ethereal plane to be closer to Krynn and her Red Robe wizards, and now resides within her moon.

Great Wheel cosmology

In the Great Wheel cosmology, Lunitari originally resided within the Lost Citadel of Magic on the Ethereal plane, along with her cousins, Solinari and Nuitari. The Lost Citadel was originally the Citadel of Mysteries, built by the three founders of High Sorcery before being ripped from Krynn at the conclusion of the Second Dragon War.

Worship

Lunitari does not have a clerical order dedicated to her worship. Instead she serves as patron deity of the Red Robe wizards of High Sorcery. Lunitari's worshippers are more numerous than those of her cousins, and work to bring magic to the world, and maintain the balance that exists between good and evil magic.

In Spelljammer

Lunitari is a member of the Gods of Balance and is considered native to Krynnspace.
