Great Dale

The Nar demonbinder Clymph built the proud walled keep of Clymph Tower in the Year of Twelve Teeth, 888 DR , as a pen for his foul minions, the demons that he had summoned and bound to his will. Imbuing the very stones with abjurative magic, he made the entire perimeter of the keep into a great magic circle from which the demons could not escape out into the wilderness. Clymph dreamt of founding a mighty empire in the Great Dale with his demonic armies, and created a permanent gate to the Abyss from which he drew his forces.

At a distance, this ruined wizards tower looked like a giant three-fingered hand reaching out of the Dunwood towards the sky. The three towers stabbed out from a broad-based construction of stone, which would've collapsed many years previously if not held together by a great network of vines wrapping themselves around every inch of the three towers. Were the vines to wither and lose their cohesion, the entire tower complex would come crashing down. The peak of the north tower contained a portal to Clymph Tower .

The forest was once connected to the Rawlinswood, and together they were known as the Riildath . The Riildath was home to the elven realm of Lethyr until the fair folk were driven into the southern half by the men who would go on to found the Empire of Narfell . The Great Glacier 's expansion down a valley within its woods split the forest into two and the trees never regrew after the ice retreated back to the north.
