Description
Salar was the heart of an aboleth empire, prior to the Calamity, but many of the caverns collapsed in the devastating battles of that event. The architecture is strange and cannot be properly perceived by most, sending them mad when they look upon it too long. The buildings are made of green marble, and seem to defy normal conceptions of time and space.
The adventurer Karaline von Ethro had visions of Salar that were eventually her undoing. In them she described massive pillars from deep underground, reaching to just below the surface, with a huge, lustrous disc that was the light source to the city. These pillars are known as Pillars of the Earth, and the remaining aboleths of the fallen empire, in 812 PD, were led by Overseer Durrom. Their plan is to destroy the pillars that support the continent, collapsing the surface.
