Uthtor was an ancient dwarven civilization in Gwessar that met its end during the Calamity.
Location
Uthtor was described as a "high-mountain" kingdom in the Cliffkeep Mountains, connected through tunnels with deep underground settlements, where many took refuge during the Calamity.
At least some of its halls were reclaimed to form the basis for the founding of Kraghammer after the wars of the Calamity.
Demographics
The civilization of Uthtor was formed and composed of dwarves, the ancestors of most of the population of Kraghammer. Some of the local families were experts at working stone, having multiple generations of master stonemasons.
Notable people
- Clan Hearthheart: A clan present in Uthtor during its fall.
- Members of the clan were Dari, Asha, Yari, and Oghman. The mortal avatar of the All-Hammer, Garen, took the identity of a Hearthheart dwarf, and his memories (affected by a curse of the Lord of the Hells) made him believe that prayers dedicated to him by those mortals were actual conversations his "relatives" had had with him.
- Clan Jaggenstrike: They led thousands of people in the foundation of Kraghammer, and eventually went extinct at some point before 636 PD.

Culture and religion
Little is known about the dwarves who lived in Uthtor. It is known that they worshipped Moradin the All-Hammer as their divine creator and as the patron of crafting, and even after the fall of their civilization they honored him when they created a new home for themselves. They gave great importance to the All-Hammer's industrious values, and they had experience in the mining sector. At least some of them had contact with the hill dwarves of Torm's Hill during its early days, when the founder still lived there.
History
Uthtor was founded long ago in the Cliffkeep Mountains, becoming a glorious dwarven civilization that reigned supreme over the region. This society was established at the top of the mountain range, and from there they created tunnels that descended into the bowels of the earth. Garen remembered digging out some of the deeper hillsides around the city.
Stone from Uthtor was brought to Vasselheim and etched with script of old High Dwarven, the language of ancient mountain dwarves—ancient even to those who lived at the end of the Calamity.
However, during the Calamity, the Crawling King attacked Uthtor and it crumbled, like many other civilizations of the time; its survivors were divided among the deep settlements within the Cliffkeeps, although others left the safety of the mountain and ended up killed or captured by the forces of the Betrayer Gods.
The remnants of Uthtor's society attempted to reconnect with each other on several occasions over the centuries, without achieving a permanent union, until shortly after the end of the Calamity, when they succeeded. What remained of the "fragments" of their civilization, led by Clan Jaggenstrike and blessed by the All-Hammer, founded, with some help from other deep dwellers, a new city-state, Kraghammer, within the southern face of the Cliffkeep Mountains. Although the Jaggenstrikes themselves died out in the following centuries, their unifying role gave them a position of mythic reverence among the descendants of the people of Uthtor.
