Economy
The lake provides most of the freshwater fish consumed by eastern Tal'Dorei, via the quiet town of Drynna where the Mooren River Run empties into the lake.
Ecology and Nearby Inhabitants
The Mooren Lake area is teeming with wildlife. In addition to the largely human town of Drynna, there are other small societies taking advantage of the rich biota, including flocks of harpies and tribes of lizardfolk. Indeed, the lake floor itself has taken on a life of its own: centuries of whitestone runoff from the Alabaster Sierras has allowed faintly magical residuum to collect on the lakebed in quantities sufficient to begin to gain a collective sentience. There are also several hydras living in the deeper parts of the lake, and long exposure to the residuum made at least one hydra noticeably more intelligent.
Twin islands in the center of the lake are blanketed by a persistent mist, and watched over by the Moon Mistress, who appears to be a water nymph and is known to the locals as a beautiful, ageless woman who, legend has it, judges mortals who come to her, either killing them or granting them a favor or knowledge. In fact, her appearance is an illusion: she is actually a night hag, and as of 812 PD she made sacrifices to keep the mist around to hide herself from a vengeful blood hunter named Perron Brill.
