Description

The range bisects the continent's central region of Wynandir, with the Dwendalian Empire ruling the lands on the western side and the eastern side forming the region of Xhorhas. Once, the Peaks were contiguous with the Dunrock Mountains to the north, but during the final battles of The Calamity, two passes were created, separated by the Brokenveil Bluffs. As of 835 PD these passes were guarded on the south by the Ashguard Garrison and on the north by the Rockguard Garrison.

The southern base of the mountains is dominated on the southwest by the massive green Quoraska Jungle, and on the southeast by the Lotusden Greenwood.

Cities along the Ashkeeper Peaks on the Dwendalian side often request additional Crownsguard to be stationed as protection from the monsters who come down from the mountains. The treacherous nature of the peaks has made them an effective natural barrier to imperial expansion, and the civilizations within the mountains are mostly underground, in the Underdark and in a hidden fire giant society.

Ashguard Garrison

The Ashguard Garrison is an outpost on the south side of the Brokenveil Bluffs, meant to guard the frontier of the Dwendalian Empire from incursions from Xhorhas.

Verstglade

The Verstglade is a valley in the southern Ashkeeper Peaks, and once served as a laboratory for Vecna during the Age of Arcanum.

Fire giant citadel

Deep beneath the Ashkeeper Peaks is a fortress held by fire giants.
