Description
Deastok is located on a hill just north of the Cyrengreen Forest and is surrounded by farmland. The town has regular guard patrols that march around the city. The guards are armed with crossbows and some patrol on horseback. The farmland surrounding the town is segmented with different colored fences and is generally well organized. Deastok itself is protected by stone walls. Each entrance into the town has a large metallic gate which is closed in case of an attack.
Castle Lorelei is not far from Deastok.

Deastok is thoroughly controlled by the Truscan family, though it is also a longtime major hub of the Myriad. It is a destination for wealthy travelers on vacation while also being supported by a timber industry enabled by gnomish technology.

In 836 PD, Deastok has a population of 10,090. 60% are humans, 26% are dwarves, and 10% are halflings.
History
Some of the settlers who founded Whitestone (including the Sunfather) came from Deastok, which back in the 7th century after the Divergence was still a town.
" Taryon, My Wayward Son " (1x97)
Taryon Darrington was abducted by a bounty hunter named K'ryyn who had been paid by his father Howaardt Darrington to bring Tary back to the family estate in Deastock. Vox Machina managed to intercept K'ryyn in Wildemount, but Tary decided to return home anyway to face his father. Howaardt revealed that the Darrington family was in dire financial straits and owed a tremendous amount of money to the Myriad. Howaardt also revealed that when Tary left home for his "adventure", he had stolen the entire family treasury, the true source of Tary's supposed wealth. Howaardt thought he had a solution for their financial problems: a marriage between Tary and Lydia Truscan. Vox Machina decided to help the Darrington family by speaking with the Myriad.
" The Mines of the Many " (1x98)
Vox Machina made their way to the Grumpy Lily in Deastock to meet with Korshad Seddiki. They discussed the Darrington family's debt, which Korshad Seddiki planned to collect in six months' time. A deal was struck: the Darringtons would be allowed to keep their mansion and enough wealth to live on in return for a favor from Vox Machina, to clear a platinum mine owned by the Myriad, which had been taken over by some ancient, hostile entity.

The party returned to Deastock and the Grumpy Lily to meet again with Korshad. He confirmed that the mine had been cleansed and handed over the deed to the Darrington estate.
" The Chapter Closes " (1x115)
As the months passed, the Darrington family adjusted somewhat to a more humble lifestyle, and their works of charity within the city of Deastok and the neighboring lands went far to clean up the family name from where it once was. While their influence was greatly diminished and they were essentially a political laughingstock, the message of their work still struck a chord in some of the more philanthropic lords to the north and an alliance was made that protected the Darrington name and interests from the Myriad's ever wiley grasp.
At some point, Tary and Doty finished writing " The Daring Trials and Tribulations of Sir Taryon Darrington " and published it in Deastock. Taryon reunited with Lawrence in Port Damali and began writing fiction novels. By 836 PD, his most successful series was "The Deastock Mysteries", which told the adventures of a young blonde boy and his robot sidekick solving crimes in Wildemount.
" The Adventures of the Darrington Brigade " (Sx49)
Approximately fourteen years later in 826 PD, Taryon welcomed new members to the Darrington Brigade and led them on a quest at the behest of Doolan Tversky in search of an item or creature that fell from the sky. The brigade discovered Quackthulhu, a gigantic mutated duck, and felled it. They retrieved the meteor implanted in its back and returned it to Master Tversky.
Campaign Three
In 843 PD Scanlan Shorthalt and Dr. Dranzel's Spectacular Traveling Troupe were in Deastok as part of a tour the bard organized because of his third mid-life crisis.
