Description
Castle Lorelei is built on a tall hill at the edge of the Cyrengreen Forest. Within the castle walls is a large courtyard, with many low buildings around it: the chapel, the kitchens, the meeting hall, the stables, and the keep. The keep and the guard towers surrounding the castle's walls are three stories tall; the other buildings have only one floor.
Keep
The tallest building in the castle is the keep. Inside on the first floor there is a great hall with a hearth. A staircase leads to the second floor, on which is Haldur's study and the bed chambers of the Lorelei family, which form a ring around the vestibule below.
- Lord Lorelei's Study: Haldur's study is filled with bookshelves and ledgers. On the wall there is a map of Wildemount, and a mount for his sword, Vargr. A leather armchair and a desk occupy the center of the room.
Chapel
Against the outer walls of the castle, to the left of the keep, the family built a chapel dedicated to Sehanine, the Moonweaver. When the Lorelei children arrived, its pews were pushed aside, and various dismembered corpses of castle attendants were piled up on the floor.
Cemetery
The cemetery is a half-mile away from the back of the castle, next to the forest, surrounded by a five feet tall wall that is so old and fragmented that it isn't an obstacle at all. It is the resting place for the castle's servants and contains the Lorelei family mausoleum.
The mausoleum was built into a naturally formed underground cave system, which has been partially walled off. It is surrounded by an aging and decrepit wrought-iron fence. Inside the tunnels are monuments to different ancestors of the family, including shrines for Alfarr and his daughter Grenya. There was also a small altar for Geneviève Lorelei where her corpse was sealed away, consisting of a small statue of her and a small step where flowers or offerings could be left; behind the tomb was an access to the unaltered cave system, and although this access was opened after the attack on Castle Lorelei in 835 PD (damaging Geneviève's altar), Lord Haldur Lorelei intended to reseal it.
