Description
Located in northern Foren, Mutalos is precisely 30 miles in diameter, and the wildfolk of Eiselcross who named the region refuse to enter it due to its strange and treacherous nature. Each morning at dawn, the terrain of Mutalos changes: travelers who chose to camp in what was at the time a surprisingly warm swamp or forest could awaken in the middle of a mountain range or ocean. These changes are believed to be the effect of a powerful Aeorian artifact, and the various political powers of Wildemount with interests in Eiselcross would all like to obtain this relic.
The fauna of Mutalos changes at dawn along with the flora to suit the terrain of the day, although it's unclear how precisely this occurs and whether it is the same being changing form, or new creatures appearing while the old ones disappear. When one of the beasts of Mutalos leaves the area, it remains changed by this magic and wanders Foren in that form. Many of the creatures die, unsuited for the arctic climate, but a few survive and adapt to their new environment.
