The Aggrad Mountains are an extensive range that takes up a good portion of the northern tip of the continent of Marquet.
Description
The Aggrad Mountains stretch for hundreds of miles between Bay of Gifts in the north and the Rumedam Desert to the south. The rocky range features deep chasms and caves inhabited by predators. It is about a day-and-a-half's travel on foot from Ank'Harel, and the range can be seen in the distance from the Tower of J'mon Sa Ord in the heart of the city.
The mountains also border the northern edges of the Hellcatch Valley, and the small city of King's Fall is tucked against a southwestern part of the range.
Notable locations
- Shammel is a bustling port city on the Bay of Gifts on the northeastern coast of Marquet, situated at the base of the Aggrad Mountains. It is a major trade center as well as a popular tourist destination, with swanky beach resorts like Dalen's Closet.
- The Vault of Shumas was an ancient religious sanctuary until it was taken over and used as a place for followers of the Cloaked Serpent to hibernate in long-term stasis.
Age of Arcanum
The Vault of Shumas was a religious sanctuary from the beginning of the Age of Arcanum to just before the Calamity, when followers of the Cloaked Serpent slaughtered the people there, sealed the cavern, and entered a long-term stasis.

In 810 PD, Arkhan the Cruel investigated the Vault of Shumas in search of the Wreath of the Prism, with the help of a small party of mercenaries, including Percival de Rolo and Keyleth. When they arrived, the hidden temple had Abyssal script on its walls, and it was guarded by yuan-ti, a manticore, and an undead spirit calling herself "the Caregiver". The Caregiver watched over the sleeping children of the Cloaked Serpent "until our epoch begins." Arkhan not only found the artifact, but also gained the manticore as a mount and companion.
Campaign One: Vox Machina
In early 811 PD, Vox Machina flew in the skyship Deera over the Aggrad Mountains on the way to Glintshore. The flight from Ank'Harel to the Bay of Gifts took five hours.
Later that year, while on hiatus, Vox Machina spent their Winter's Crest vacation together in Shammel. They stayed at a resort called "Dalen's Closet" located at the base of the mountains. In 813 PD, Percival de Rolo and Vex'ahlia held their destination wedding at Dalen's Closet.
Campaign Three: Bells Hells
On their way to Bassuras aboard the skyship the Silver Sun, Bells Hells were able to see in the distance a small city tucked into the mountain range. Captain Xandis explained that the name of the city is King's Fall.
