Athos is part of a range of very high, very cold and snowy mountains. The constant fog that covers the entire Shattered Teeth is present in the valleys and around the bases of the mountains, blocking distant view. The area around the Chynes Maw, a cavern of roiling fires and molten earth holding the flame of the titan's spark, is barren of the snow and ice that covers everything else.
The skies above Athos Peak are inhabited by Cloud Jaws, the sky whales of the Shattered Teeth.
Chynes Maw
The entrance to the Maw, a cavern on Athos Peak that was the resting place of a shard or spark of the titan Rau'shan, was barren of the ice covering the rest of the mountain. It was a jagged and low crack in the rock face (about three to four feet high) but wide, stretching about 20 feet long, without an outside ledge of any kind. The space within was inhabited by magma mephits.
The Calamity
Together with the rest of the Shattered Teeth, Athos Peak was presumably formed in the cataclysmic explosion that created the archipelago and destroyed the continent of Domunas when the sealed primordials Rau'shan, Emperor of Fire, and Ka'Mort, Empress of Earth were combined into a great quantity of magma and destroyed at the beginning of the Calamity.
Campaign Three: Bells Hells
The ancient Gau Drashari Evontra'vir, now become the Tree of Atrophy, told Ashton Greymoore and Bells Hells the location of the spark of Rau'shan located on Athos Peak in the Chynes Maw. When it sensed the group was being Scryed on, it opened a portal within its trunk and transported them to Athos Peak. The party explored the Chynes Maw, locating the shard they sought, but when it was removed from the lava pool it lay buried in, the magma mephits inhabiting the cavern all dropped and died. After battling a simulacrum of Ludinus Da'leth as well as several Ruby Vanguard soldiers and Reilora, the party Teleported out of the cavern.
