Den Kryn

Den Kryn is one of the three ruling Dens of the Kryn Dynasty and is foremost among the three. Like all Dens, it is a family that an individual may enter upon consecution and is "returned" to in a new life after anamnesis. It is led by Bright Queen Leylas Kryn, sovereign of the Kryn Dynasty. Other members include Dusk Captain Quana Kryn, general of the Dynasty's army, and Bright Child Caelestis, a prophesied child believed to be conceived through the Luxon.

History

Den Kryn is one of the twelve noble Dens of the Kryn Dynasty and one of its three ruling Dens. As a Den, it is considered a family; individuals may enter into the family upon consecution, and reborn individuals are "returned" to the Den after anamnesis, the process by which a consecuted soul remembers a past life. Like the other two ruling Dens, it is led by an Umavi, a revered "perfect soul"; the Umavi of Den Kryn is Leylas Kryn.

Leylas was present when a Luxon beacon was found by the drow a thousand years before 835 PD. The discovery of the beacon caused the drow to abandon their faith in Lolth and begin worship of the Luxon. As part of their worship, the drow sought to live on the surface of Exandria, and Den Kryn helped build a nation, called the Kryn Dynasty, centered on the new city of Rosohna.

Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein

In response to a failed Dynasty operation to retrieve a stolen Luxon beacon from Zadash failed, Kryn Dynasty attacked Ashguard Garrison, beginning the War of Ash and Light. After the Mighty Nein presented to her one of the stolen beacons, she absolved them in the eyes of the three ruling Dens of actions made against the Dynasty. She later sent them vast amount of money as a reward. Months later, the Mighty Nein arranged for peace talks between the Dynasty and the Dwendalian Empire. Though reluctant and disbelieving the Empire would willingly return the beacons, Leylas ultimately agreed to the negotiations, and Quana Kryn traveled to the Menagerie Coast as the Dynasty's representative to successfully broker the return of the beacons.

The Tales of Exandria: The Bright Queen

At some point in the late 830s or early 840s PD, Leylas foresaw a child conceived by the Luxon, a surge in dunamis, a new age for the Dynasty, and a presence she could not explain. Shortly after, Quana was abducted by agents of Lolth while collecting a sixth beacon. Through a powerful Manifest Echo spell cast by her Umavi, Leylas traveled to the Abyss to personally rescue Quana and bring the beacon to Rosohna. After their return, the events of Leylas's prophecy began to unfold, and Quana became pregnant with a child that was believed to be conceived through the Luxon. News of the child spread, and Leylas set out weeks before the birth to consecute thousands across Xhorhas and preach of a bright destiny heralded by the child. However, Leylas was haunted by visions of Lolth and her time in the Abyss. She repeatedly prolonged her campaign until she was forced back to Rosohna after she lashed out and killed a disbelieving councilor of Xarzith Kitril. Upon her return, Leylas became withdrawn and refused to see the child, Caelestis. Though she and Quana believed that the child would strength their bond, their relationship became strained.
