The Kingdom of Hyrule is the traditional setting for numerous video games in The Legend of Zelda franchise. Hyrule is ruled by Princess Zelda, who often calls upon the hero Link for assistance against Ganon, an evil warlord turned demon.
Hyrule is a medieval Western Europe-inspired fantasy land which has developed a deep history and wide geography over the series' many releases. Hyrule's principal inhabitants are pointy-eared, elf-like humanoids called Hylians.
