The Wheel of Time
Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time is set in a sprawling fantasy world where time is a circular, repeating cycle governed by a cosmic entity known as the Wheel. The story primarily takes place during the Third Age, a period three millennia after a global cataclysm called the Breaking of the World.
Magic, known as the One Power, is drawn from the True Source and divided into female (saidar) and male (saidin) halves; however, because the male half was tainted by the Dark One during the Breaking, any man who wields it eventually descends into madness. This unique dynamic places political and magical authority largely in the hands of the Aes Sedai, an all-female organization that monitors male channelers and prepares for the Dragon Reborn, a prophesied individual destined to either save the world or destroy it once more.
