Confectioners' Mutual Savings Bank

History

The bank was founded by four halflings and one human, all of whom were master confectioners. The bank's shareholders are mainly bakers and confectioners, with most of the bank's investments directed into those trades. Despite being a small bank, it is thriving. This is because the bank does not look down on those with limited financial means. Its clientele mainly consists of small merchants and craftsmen, cobblers, butchers, and market vendors, while also offering loans to the poorest with low interest rates and long repayment terms. There are also moderately wealthy citizens who use the bank's services, but most of the bank's profits come from countless small transactions, so many in fact that customers have to queue every day.

The bank itself is located in a modest wooden building with an upper floor and an attic. Upon entering the bank, there is a hall with a sleepy, grey-bearded, bald halfling with whom visitors must leave their weapons. On the ground floor there is the bank’s pawnshop. Going upstairs leads into a huge hall where the bank's business is conducted. Pleasant, smiling female halflings in golden-brown dresses move about carrying trays of confectionery treats and cups of sweet juice. They politely ask clients the purpose of their visit, offer sweets, and guide them to the appropriate clerk. The bank is run exclusively by halflings, with only the security being dwarves and humans.

In four years, the bank made enough money for an impressive brick headquarters near the Western Bazaar, where finishing work is currently underway. According to rumours in the city, Vimme Vivaldi was alarmed by the bank's rising popularity and considered hiring arsonists to burn down the building, although nothing of the sort happened.
