Akros (AH-krohs), inspired by Sparta, is a polis high in the Katachton Mountains, which serves as a shield between its holdings and the rest of Theros. The Akroans are half-mythical even within their own time.

Meletis (Mehl-EE-tis), inspired by Athens, is the largest polis on Theros. It is a city-state of progressive thinkers, pious thaumaturges, and wise oracles on the Coast of the Siren Sea.

Asphodel (AHZ-foh-del) is a necropolis of the Returned on Theros, located south of the Nessian Wood. Description Unlike their sister city of Odunos, the Returned of Asphodel are purposeless and seek only to be left alone.

The river next to which Akros is built, the Deyda has very high cliffs for banks and rough waters. It takes less than an hour to sail from the mouth of the Deyda to the Harbor of Meletis. The Great River Road runs along the Deyda out to sea. It is situated such that when heading towards the sea, the river is on one's left. It takes under two days to walk between the sea and Akros along the road.

The wine-dark Siren Sea borders the coast of Theros and is home to the tritons.

The residents of Natumbria are famous for training sea animals as skillfully as Setessans train land and air animals. They train sea snakes, dolphins, and even sharks on a few occasions to be combatants, working animals, aquatic mounts, and companions.

The village of Thesteia is little more than a crossroads, but it's notable for its temple to Karametra. The site draws farmers from the region who offer a portion of their crops to the god of agriculture.

A small fishing village, Phaela is most noted as being the literal "end of the road" for travelers venturing south from Meletis. The rugged lands beyond are rocky and scattered with forgotten ruins.

A Kraken that escaped its sealock once threatened the small seaside city of Altrisos. Recently weakened by a triton raid, the city had no defenses left and would be destroyed by an attack. The people prayed to Ephara, and the large image of her face on the city's wall came to life. The walls of the city grew impossibly high and strong, and the Kraken could do no more than dash its head against the impassable barrier. The monster soon returned to the ocean to find an easier meal. Altrisos now has Ephara's face on nearly every building and wall in the entire city in gratitude.

Oxus is a quiet town with a notably wealthy population, consisting largely of merchants who have retired from trade with large fortunes at their disposal. The tomb of Kynaios and Tiro stands in the center of the town, the subject of many local legends.

The coastal town of Sitrium is known for the way many of its buildings are on stilts to accommodate the changing tides. Sitrium is famed for its skilled shipwrights.

Though they are regarded as Meletians, the people of Neolantin view themselves as citizens of Olantin, a coastal polis that long ago vanished into the sea. According to legend, an angry Heliod smote the polis with his spear, sinking it in punishment for its people's utter hubris. The fact that the Neolantians were spared this fate, they say, is evidence of their humility, and they take special care in their sacrifices to Heliod.

Krimnos, home of the famed philosopher Anapse. The village of Krimnos attracts many philosophers who share Anapse's delight in the pleasures of a simple life.

The large bay serves as easy access into and out of Meletis by sea. The polis is protected by a large sea wall overlooked by the two stone statues of Kynaios and Tyro.

The bone-white tableland called Four Winds Plateau sits just inland of the mouth of Meletis Harbor, before one reaches the city itself. It was the site of many battles and tragedies, including the defeat of the Archons of Trax, the murder of the first Nyxborn Nykthos, and Elspeth's legendary battle with Polukranos the World Eater, among others.

The Oraniad Mountains are closer to the gods, and therefore more dangerous. This range serves as the site of many legendary volcanos, including the mysterious Empty Eye, the burning Phoenix Stairs, and the frozen Winter's Heart. The nexus of Nykthos on Mount Carian is the most famous gateway to Nyx, built by the first Nyxborn.

Mount Vesios, also known as the Little Sister, is a smaller volcano that resembles Mount Velus and erupts concurrently with Velus. A monastery on its western slope houses scholars and spellcasters who study the volcano, believing that through it, they might be able to control the eruptions of Mount Velus. Numerous oreads and Akroan flamespeakers offer their omens from the volcano's heights.

Odunos (OH-dun-ohs) is a necropolis of the Returned in Theros, located south of Phoberos. In contrast to Asphodel, their sister city, the Returned of Odunos are filled with greed and resentment, violently lashing out against the living.

Skophos is the labyrinthine city of the minotaurs on Theros, described as a dark reflection of Akros. History During the Birth of the Poleis, the humans waged war with the minotaurs in Phoberos and the Katachthon Mountains.

Skola Vale is an enchanted valley in Theros and the home of the satyrs, located in the chaparral of the Oraniad Mountains. Myths say Nylea poured her wineskin out on the vale, which turned the goats who drank it into the first satyrs.

Phoberos (FOH-behr-ohs) is the harsh and arid badlands home to the outcast minotaur raiders in Theros, located just west of Akros and south of Skophos. The name is taken from Phobos, the Greek god of fear.

Oreskos is a grassland valley in Theros and the central domain of the leonin, isolated from the human poleis.

Setessa (Seh-TEHS-ah), inspired by Themiscyra, the mythical home of the Amazons as well as the DC Comics version of the location, is a polis located in Theros 's Nessian Forest. It encompasses a sprawling area on the border between the Nistos Forest and the open chaparral.

The small coastal town of Glossion boasts a remarkable library that according to local legend was a gift from Ephara. Other tales suggest that the library was founded by an ancient sage named Anatheia, but then a terrible fire destroyed the place, and along with it generations of collected knowledge. Once the people finished rebuilding the structure to start the library over, Ephara is said to have appeared and restored the books and scrolls the library had lost, copying the information from her scrolls of sacred knowledge. The bulk of the town's economy revolves around maintaining the library and meeting the needs of travelers who come to visit it.

Visible from Akros, Mount Velus is an energetically active volcano. The fiery mountain serves as nothing less than Purphoros's home in the mortal world.
