The Classic World of Darkness is the setting for White Wolf Entertainment AB's series of Storyteller games of gothic horror. The core games were all placed in a modern day setting, which is categorised here.

The Modern Nights of the World of Darkness are a "Gothic-Punk" version of the world we know: decayed, dark, and foreboding, but also brash and violent. The shadows loom longer and darker; the crime rate and suicide rate are higher; the oligarchy hold on to power more tightly, while the youth fight against the oppressive establishment with more than just sneers and slogans.

And in the shadows, behind the facades, lurk monsters, hidden from humanity but nevertheless imparting a sense of dread. Vampires, werewolves, wraiths, mages... all struggle against the dying of the light, fighting against each other and themselves to hold on to their places of power.

But above all, night looms: the Time of Judgment, when the world ends, draws near. Some say the Final Nights are just around the corner; others that they are already here.

Additionally this includes the 1914 setting of Wraith: The Oblivion, which we consider to be part of the modern era.
