Hey there, Greenhorn. Yeah, I'm talking to you. I know you were shot, but I rescued you. Get that worm out of your eye socket, it makes me wanna lose my lunch.
Let me fill you in on historical events, sees as you died there. The year is 1877 (canonical for 2nd), and this ain't the world you're used to. See, there was this shaman by the name of Raven, and he and a few of his Sioux brothers were tired of the westward expansion of the European settlers. Now, Raven had heard of the Hunting Grounds, and he wanted to go there and kill the Old Ones, the men who sacrificed themselves to seal the Reckoners away.
Who are the Reckoners? Boy, where you been? The Reckoners were powerful demons, see? And they feed on FEAR. As you wander past a shadow, and small shiver runs up that exposed spine of yours (might want to get that looked at by the doc, boy), that is the Reckoners whispering in your ears. Ever seen that tree over yonder that looks like something out of your nightmares? Well, that is when the fear reaches a peak, the land warps. Unnatural things come around when the land does that. Jackalopes and Wendigos. Nasty critters.
Anyway, clear that fly outta your ear so you can hear me boy. I ain't finished with my story. You see, when the demons first came through the Portal that Raven conjured during his ritual, earthquakes happened and part of California fell into the sea. Right along that huge fault line. Folks down there call it The Maze. And the darndest thing they found was "ghost rock." This substance looks like coal with a faint greenish glow, but it wails like a banshee when it gives off that ghost-like vapor. Hence the name, son. And it is precious. EXTREMELY precious. Moreso than gold, silver or copper. Oh, they still mine those, but it is Ghost Rock that posses like Sweetrock Mining Company goes after down in Gomorrah. I wouldn't head down there, as the town has recently lost their sheriff. Whole town is in chaos.
Now, you get yourself up outta that hole and find a posse. And clean out those maggots around your bullet hole. It is giving me the willies. Welcome to the Weird West, son. And don't get killed again.
