The Fantasy Trip is a game system designed by Steve Jackson (I) and published by Metagaming. It includes stand alone board games, a complete RPG system and adventure modules.
The game has been out of print since about 1983 when Howard Thompson, the owner of Metagaming, closed the company and Jackson was unable to secure the rights to the game. In 2005, Dark City Games, Inc. began publishing additional supplemental material for the game, without input from Thompson or Jackson.
Steve Jackson Games's GURPS RPG system was strongly influenced by The Fantasy Trip.
