The character of Byode was created by Wizards of the Coast for a celebration card as part of the 2022 Heroes of the Realm program. The Byode, Inverse Sun card was handed out to the Universes Beyond team of Wizards of the Coast, as a token of appreciation. The name is an anagram of Universes Beyond, and the cost of the card is UB, which is also the abbreviation for Universes Beyond.
