Khrad is the Prince of the Telu-Set and a mighty warrior from Muraganda.

Description

Although somewhat fixed in his cultural beliefs, Khrad is selfless and heroic. As one of the Telu-Set, he abhors magic in all its forms and considers it his duty to slay any users of magic that cross his path.

He is a survival expert, adept at tracking and in melee combat. He also has a deep bond with his raptor companion Grazak, and bears the Star-Sword, the inherited weapon of the Telu-Set champion. This sword, forged with iron from a moonfall, is the sharpest blade on Muraganda.

History

After the Omenpaths opened, people from other planes began trespassing on the Telu-Set lands. One day, the people of the central stronghold of Mon'Telu gathered in the meeting hall, and their oracle prophesied that a beast beyond comprehension was nearing the stronghold. Worse yet, if nothing were done, the ley mage Amarth-Tel would seize the beast and use it to work his dark magic. King Khal decreed that a warrior must halt the beast's rampage and put a stop to Amarth-Tel's crimes, and Khrad, his son, stepped forth. He was chosen as the champion of his people and set forth on his quest.

As Khrad roved out, he battled strange insect people before finding the beast's tracks. Following them, he caught up with Amarth-Tel, who was riding the beast and holding a beautiful woman captive. However, he was easily defeated by the ley mage. As Amarth-Tel escaped, Khrad encountered one of the Fang Druids, named Chatal, who told him that the beast was called a vehicle and handed him an artifact that would help him to control it.

Khrad and Grazak continued through the jungle and arrived at Amarth-Tel's lair, the Tarry Spire. As he entered, Amarth-Tel summoned an ooze to fight him before retreating to the Spire's upper reaches to work on the vehicle. The duo cut down the beast and rushed up the Spire to confront their enemy, but Khrad stopped when he noticed Amarth-Tel's captive in a cell near the top floor. He cut her from her bindings, and she explained that her name was Nathala and she was of a different tribe of the Telu-Set. He insisted that she stay behind, assuming she would be easy pickings against Amarth-Tel, and instructed Grazak to protect her.

Khrad and Amarth-Tel engaged in an epic battle on the roof, each evenly matched to the other. Neither man noticed Nathala sneaking onto the roof. She had covertly stolen the Fang Druid's artifact, which turned out to be an ignition key, from Khrad and used it to start the vehicle. Both men watched in awe as the machine's engine roared, but only Khrad had the forethought to dodge as Nathala hit the gas. Amarth-Tel perished beneath the vehicle's wheels.

As the Tarry Spire began to disintegrate, Nathala offered Khrad a ride down in the vehicle, which he accepted. At the foot of the tower, he implored Nathala to teach him more about the mighty vehicle, but she refused since Khrad had assumed she was useless. He knelt and apologized for disregarding her skill, and Nathala, impressed, allowed him to accompany her study of the vehicle. However, she insisted that she would drive.
