He leaves Seanchan controlled territory with Galadedrid Damodred. He scouts the path for Galad's army as they make their way through swampland. Barlett and the rest of the scouts are actually loyal to Rhadam Asunawa and lead Galad's force to a much larger force of Children of the Light under Seanchan control.
