The Kilvars descend from a Domani merchant house, and have ruled the town of Ostin Falls on the border of Toman Head and Almoth Plain for around fifty years by 998 NE. The town begins to decline with the hostilities between Tarabon and Arad Doman reducing trade in the region, which was exacerbated by the Seanchan occupation of Falme. Desperate to save the town from economic ruin or destruction, the mayor arranged a marriage between his son Lorwyn and Meka Antos, the daughter of a merchant family from Bandar Eban.
