History

Prince Modair was anxious to prove his martial prowess to his father and became a soldier in his army during the latter stages of the Consolidation. Modair died, aged just 16 or 17, in battle in FY 959. The location and manner of his death is unknown.

His father mourned his death and wrote a notable poem, Loss, on the subject. Whilst Hawkwing was devasted, he also seems to have accepted his death in battle as a natural risk in the life of a soldier.

Hawkwing was considerably more devastated by the cowardly assassination of his wife and remaining three children two years later, which plunged him into the Black Years of his rule.
