Activities

Cowinde was the gai'shain often sent by Melaine and the Wise Ones to fetch Egwene al'Vere when she was an apprentice to the Aiel women. Cowinde once served Egwene supper, but found her asleep and alerted the Wise Ones. In an effort to shame Cowinde into putting off the white, Melaine sends her to do useless work, much the same as a da'tsang. Cowinde, along with Doilan and Rodera, served breakfast in Amys' tent to the Wise Ones. Before Egwene departs for Salidar, she gives Cowinde a note to take to Gawyn Trakand at The Long Man, an inn in Cairhien.

Parallels

  • Her name could come from Govinda, an epithet for Vishnu meaning "white cow", sometimes reconstructed as a Proto-Indo-European goddess, Gʷouwindā.
