After the death of King Laman Damodred in the Aiel War, Moiraine discounted Anvaere as a potential successor to the Sun Throne when questioned by Jarna Malari. Moiraine noted that her sister cared for little other than horses and hawking and considered that no one would trust her temper as queen.
When Moiraine escaped the White Tower after the Aes Sedai planned to make her queen, the Sun Throne passed from House Damodred, and Galldrian Riatin became the new King of Cairhien.
