Majhere

I can find work for gleemen, too. Idle hands are idle hands.

I can find work for gleemen, too. Idle hands are idle hands.
— majhere on Thom Merillin distracting the Stone's servants

The majhere is the female head of servants in the Stone of Tear.

Appearance and personality

The majhere is shorter than Thom Merrilin's shoulder and about 1.5 times his weight, with an anvil-like face; a double chin; and black, deep-set eyes

Like most Westland head servants and Randland women of authority, the majhere has a forceful personality, but not quite in the manner of Aes Sedai reserve, at times exhibiting frustration or enthusiasm. Gaul considered her "as hard as a Wise One."

Office

The majhere runs the day-to-day operations of the Stone. Her subordinates outnumber the Defenders of the Stone.

Activities

When Perrin Aybara requested a simple room, the current majhere, considering Perrin - as the Dragon Reborn's friend - equivalent in rank to a Tairen Lord of the Land or High Lord, gave Perrin Aybara a much more ornate room than he wished, but one that lacked gilding aside from the candlesticks.

After losing two mattresses in two days, Rand al'Thor joked that the majhere may not wish to give him a third. Rand created a "flower" for the majhere. According to him, the majhere was as proud (or pleased) as if he'd given her the Stone itself. While rambling to Elayne Trakand, Rand suggested that he might give the "cloth" made with saidin from gold and silver to the majhere's seamstresses.

The majhere exhibited frustration at the sluggishness of the servants during the heat wave that preceded the Second Battle of the Stone, yet could not summon the energy to mete out punishment. She had a silver-plated tub brought up to Egwene al'Vere.

The majhere organized a forceful cleaning of the Stone after the Second Battle of the Stone, using many wounded servants to do so. After Gaul learned that Perrin was departing for the Two Rivers, the majhere told him where to find Perrin. When Thom Merrilin distracted some servants from their work, the majhere suggested she could find work for gleemen as well. Thom conjured a golden yellow sunburst blossom from his sleeve for her and placed it in her hair. She immediately snatched it out, and Thom exploited the distraction to escape. She shouted after him, but he ignored her.
