After being captured and reduced to the rank of novice, Egwene al'Vere was placed in one of Idrelle's classes.
Idrelle tried to make an example of Egwene in front of the other novices by asking her to create a ball of fire, knowing full well the Forkroot Egwene was being forced to take would severely limit her channeling abilities.
In response Egwene made a fool of her by splitting her faint weaves to produce a multitude of colorful balls of fire at once, a skill that neither Idrelle nor a majority of Aes Sedai in the tower could match.
