History
In the city-state of Atticus, Darius was born into slavery and as a child was sold to a local gladiator training school. He proved to be a quick learner and skilled warrior—even as a youth, he was fighting and defeating adult hill giants and veteran fighters. Soon, he was the champion gladiator of Atticus.
But when barbarian hordes stormed out of the wastelands and overwhelmed the city-state, the free citizens of Atticus found their corruption and complacency their undoing and fell into strife. His owners dead or doomed, Darius escaped and battled through the barbarians until he was free. Afterward, Darius lived as an adventurer.
Darius joined a band of adventurers—Erland, Luthor, Red Cloud, Shinesta, Torgo, Xenobia, and Ignatius Max—who battled the dragon Blackheart before traveling to Waterdeep. However, en route, all eight of them were caught by the mists and taken to Ravenloft. Count Strahd von Zarovich appeared to them and bade them destroy the monsters and killers sent by Lord Loren Soth to kill Strahd, on the promise of sending them back.
Description
He wore scale armor over banded blue breeches and tunic, with gauntlets, greaves, and a winged face-covering helm.
Personality
Darius still lived by a rigid gladiator's code of honor taught to him by his masters. He sought out the greatest challenges to test his talents in order to maintain his reputation and honor and to become the supreme warrior.
Abilities
He fought with a trident, which he could use to attack from long range and spin around himself. He also leapt and adopted heroic stances.
