Unidentified Skyspear

The Dolarav tribe is a matriarchal society ruled by a champion called the Skyspear, who is chosen through feats of strength and mental acuity.

Background

The Dolarav tribe is a matriarchal society ruled by a champion called the Skyspear, who is chosen through feats of strength and mental acuity. This woman was raised and trained under that society, going through the Marking, and being ordered by the previous Skyspear to create a family with Baska, having sons with him despite a lack of love between the partners. Eventually she became the Skyspear herself.

The Mighty Nein Origins: Yasha Nydoorin

Between 810 and 820 PD the Dolorav found a young aasimar girl as the survivor of an attack of the Dumaran hobgoblins to another tribe. Impressed by the fighting spirit of the child, the Skyspear took her and brought her to her home, giving her a new name, Yasha Nydoorin, and making Baska raise her along with their children together.

The Skyspear led the Dolorav with strength and authority for many years and became a mentor figure for her new adoptive daughter. Despite her lack of compassion or tenderness, the Skyspear appreciated Yasha's progress, and when the young girl was old enough, she began to involve her in activities of greater responsibility. At some point another girl, Zuala, became part of the Dolorav tribe, being trained just like Yasha. Although the Skyspear admired the strength of both, and felt pride when they both passed their tests and went through the Marking, she began to suspect the closeness between the two warriors, recommending Yasha not to spend so much time with Zuala. Despite this, she could not prevent both girls from falling in love and marrying in secret, against the Dolorav tradition that those who had been marked should wait for the Skyspear to assign them a partner with whom to start a family. However, they wanted the approval of Yasha's adoptive mother, and when the Skyspear was planning to pair Zuala with another member of the tribe, she decided to go talk to the matriarch. Yasha initially quailed, but buoyed by her beloved's courage, she went to confront the Skyspear as well, only to see Zuala killed by the tribe's leader.

The Skyspear approached Yasha and asked if she still valued her tribe despite what she had done, but the aasimar, mad with grief and loss, unfurled her skeletal wings and attacked, killing her foster mother.

" A Storm of Memories " (2x46)

Yasha tells Jester that in her tribe, there is a matriarch, the champion. She is called the Skyspear.

" Agreements " (2x61)

Yasha tells the Mighty Nein that she was married at one point. In the Dolorav tribe, mates are chosen by the Skyspear, the tribe's head, and the penalty for disobeying this mandate is death.

Baska

The previous Skyspear chose Baska to be this woman's partner. Although they didn't love each other, they had some sons together, which Baska looked after; the new Skyspear was disappointed about not having a daughter of her own, reason why when she adopted Yasha she demanded that her partner look after her as well, with the other children.

Zuala and Yasha Nydoorin

The Skyspear sentenced the two to death for marrying each other without her permission, against their vows to maintain celibacy until a mate was chosen by the Skyspear. Despite this, the couple wanted to appeal to her to get her approval. The Skyspear killed Zuala herself, who would be buried in an unmarked grave along the Seepfeed River. She briefly questioned Yasha after that instead of immediately attacking, perhaps due to her being the aasimar's mentor and foster mother, but Yasha, in vengeance and insane rage, massacred the Skyspear and the rest of the previous leadership of the tribe. Yasha later remembered almost nothing of killings and only gradually recovered memories of them and their aftermath.

Years later, when Yasha sought out the remnants of the tribe, the current Skyspear, Jadek, told her the location of Zuala's unmarked grave.
