Biography

Ferumbras III, while not otherwise particularly famous, was the thirtieth Shire-thain at the time of the Farewell party of Bilbo Baggins at the beginning of The Lord of the Rings. He was the son of Fortinbras II Took (TA 2878TA 2980, a cousin of Bilbo) and Lalia (Clayhanger) Took. He never married because no one wanted Lalia for a mother-in-law.

After his death in TA 3015 (SR 1415) at the age of ninety-nine, the Thainship passed to his second cousin Paladin II Took.
