Orastes was a fallen priest of Mitra, who was rejected by his order for practicing dark arts. He was the priest that revived Xaltotun, so that he could help Tarascus to gain the throne of Nemedia and the subsequent conquest of Aquilonia.

He witnessed Xaltotun's demonic rituals and realized that the magican wishes to bring back the evil empire of Acheron, warning Tarascus, Amalric and Valerius of this danger, but Xaltotun discovered this and killed him with his magic.
