Erien

Erien was a Ñoldorin Elf-maiden in earlier versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium.

Erien was the daughter of Fingon, and she had a brother, Finbor. Nothing else is told of her as the character was discarded by later accounts.

Etymology

Erien is a Sindarin name with an unclear meaning, though it may possibly mean "First Woman"^{[citation needed]} as it consists of the element er ("1, one, alone") and the suffix -ien ("feminine ending; feminine patronymic, -daughter").
