Finbor was a Ñoldor Elf in earlier versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium.

Finbor was the son of Fingon, and he had a sister named Erien. Nothing else is told of him as the character was discarded by later accounts.

Etymology

Finbor is a Sindarin name with an unclear meaning, though it may be derived from the element fin ("from Finwë") or fîn ("a single hair, filament"), and the suffix paur ("fist or closed hand").

In other versions

In an earlier version of the legendarium, Fingon had a son originally named Fingár in Old English, but was changed later to Findobar and then Findabar. Both were Ñoldorin Quenya names derived from the compound phinde ("skill") and the element bár ("home; earth"), and phin ("nimbleness, skill").
