Nolondil was the third son and youngest child of Vardamir Nólimon, second King of Númenor.

Biography

Nolondil's eldest brother became the third King of Númenor, Tar-Amandil. His father Vardamir was potentially Half-elven like his grandfather Elros, the first King of Númenor. This means he may have been a Half-elf of the third generation, giving him a slow maturity and long youth like the Elves, while being fated for mortality like Men. Nolondil married and had three children children: one daughter, Yávien, and two sons, Oromendil and Axantur.

Etymology

Nolondil means "Devoted to knowledge" in Quenya from ñólë ("lore, knowledge") and -ndil ("friend, lover, devoted to").
