Since we don't know the title of the family's head, Ceallach, the exact status of their land is unknown. Ceallach's son, Cahir, is titled graf in original edition of the Saga, which is a German title usually translated as "count". That would make his father to bear one of the following titles appearing in the lore:

• Count Palatine, ruling a Palatinate;
• Margrave or Marquis, ruling a March;
• Burgrave, ruling a Burgraviate (territory dominated by a fortified castle).
