Following the return of the noble genies Calim and Memnon , who led genasi in overthrowing the Calimshan government, Almraiven became the only human -controlled city in the region until the late 15 th century DR , when the region's enslaved populace rose up and overthrew their tyrannical genie-kin rulers.

Manshaka was a city (a town by Calishite standards) in Calimshan, most well-known for its Blood Arenas and slavery. A home for gamblers and smugglers, such was its disrepute that more euphemistic aliases existed for this city than any other in Calimshan. It was the second-largest gambling center in all Faerûn , next to Calimport .

Its headwaters were in the western Marching Mountains . Despite its breadth, the river had a surprisingly strong current, and its waters were full of fish. South of Keltar , the river grew slow and wide until it reached the ocean at Calimport .
