Winterheim was the Icereach Ogre capital in Icereach, hewed into Mount Winterheim. For many thousands of years it was the capital for the Kingdom of Sunderhold, and then when the races there merged together in an alliance it was the capital seat for the Kingdom of Icereach. By 553 PC, the ogre population had dropped to barely 12,000 ogres living there. The Seagates allow you access into the mountain from the Black Ice Bay. The city is heated by natural steam that comes up from below the mountain.

The city in the mountain has multiple levels, and the closer to the top of the mountain you are the higher your importance in ogre society of Icereach you stand with the Royals at the top. Each level is basically a balcony, as when you are standing on the ground floor looking up you can see that they are all open.

History

Barkon I left Ansalon at the words from Gonnas the Strong. He and his family and followers travelled south and into the Icereach region. They found a mighty mountain that they named Winterheim, and decided to start building their home there in 5477 PC. Through both Barkon II and Barkon III the city was worked on, so that by 5330 PC the city of Winterheim was completed.

From here the mighty ogres ruled all of Icereach, using slave labor from the Arktos that they had found living her already. By 545 PC, their power had diminished a lot, and many of the ogres were tired of making war on their neighbors. And after the Battle of Winterheim, the races of Icereach agreed to join together to form the Kingdom of Icereach with each people having their own capital. Winterheim would remain the focal capital of the united kingdoms until the Cataclysm struck and Winterheim was buried in tons and tons of snow. It is unknow what became of the city, but it is assumed it still sits there under tons of snow and ice.
