Blödehelm
Blödehelm is a land that has long been fought over, and resides in the western part of the realm of Blöde.
Blödehelm is a land that has long been fought over, and resides in the western part of the realm of Blöde. It was once little more than a dusty series of plains, that lay on the western side of the Khalkist Mountains, however the Cataclysm changed the land into rich and verdant plains. Blödehelm saw further change with the arrival of the dragon Onysablet, with swamplands overtaking all of Blödehelm and crushing the human kingdom.
History
Age of Might
In the early ages, Blödehelm was little more than a large dustbowl, with broken dry earth and few resources of any worth. No-one dwelt here, and the area was largely abandoned, with the ogres of Blöde preferring to remain in the Khalkist Mountains.
Age of Despair
With the formation of the New Sea which now bordered the western part of Blöde, the western plains of Blödehelm were now rich and fertile lands. The ogres came down from the mountains and claimed the realm, naming it Blödehelm, which translated as “Home of Blöde”. Refugees escaping the troubles caused by the Cataclysm also started arriving in Blödehelm, and they were enslaved by the ogres. However in the following years, human warlords also started to arrive with their armies, looking to conquer and claim the new realm for themselves. Pitched fights occurred for almost one hundred years between the various warlords and the ogres, until finally a truce was called and a pact agreed to between the ogres and the humans. The warlords then formed their own alliance, creating their new kingdom of Blödehelm, with the capital identified as the city of Vantal and a new king was installed.
The kingdom of Blödehelm prospered for the next few centuries, with multiple villages and towns springing up. With the coming War of the Lance, the ogres agreed to ally with the Dragonarmies, and in turn pressured the kingdom of Blödehelm to offer the rich harvests from their rice fields to supply food for the burgeoning armies.
Age of Mortals
The arrival of the Dragon Overlords saw the destruction of the human kingdom, with the capital of Vantal being destroyed and the entire area being consumed by a swamp created by the dragon Onysablet. Blödehelm was overrun by the foul servants of the dragon and became a haven of evil. With the death of the dragon, it is uncertain what will happen to Blödehelm, however many of the dragon’s servants still dwell in the settlements, but the swamp is gradually receding.
