Overview
Eldath is the goddess of waterfalls, springs, pools, stillness, peace, and quiet glades. An enigmatic and shy deity, Eldath nonetheless possesses a depth of character and unexpressed resolve that cannot be broken. A dedicated pacifist, she refuses to take any overt hostile action, even when threatened. She meets challenges with strategic withdrawal, a course of action that inevitably sees aggressive opponents overextend themselves into untenable positions in which they find themselves surrounded, and their reinforcements unexpectedly converted onto her side. Eldath is a goddess of comfort, healing, and calm, and her blessed waters heal the sick, cure madness, and comfort the dying.
Description
Eldath appears as a tall, thin, yet graceful and beautiful female human, nereid, or aquatic elf. Her body is translucent so that observers can see through her body at all times; her hair looks like colourless spun glass or flowing ice; and her eyes are a deep green. Her feet are bare, and she wears silken green garments which flow clingily to the curves of her body, yet she radiates stillness and peace, cooling ardour rather than inciting lust. She can also appear as a dark-haired woman dressed in shimmering green, or as a dryad, or as a wild elf with green and blue hair.
Holy symbol
Eldath's symbol is a waterfall plunging into a still pool without causing any disturbance, or a sky-blue circular disc with a fringe of green ferns.
Favored weapon
Eldath is a dedicated pacifist and would rather not take any hostile actions. If forced to defend herself, she prefers to cast spells that restrain, charm, hold, or otherwise incapacitate her foes. She has also been known to use a net to entangle her opponents.
Realm
World Tree cosmology
In the World Tree cosmology of Realmspace, Eldath resides within her planar realm, known as the True Grove, which is located on the outer plane of the House of Nature, which she shares with her superior Silvanus, and her fellow nature deities, including Lathander, Chauntea, Mielikki, Shiallia, Nobanion and Ubtao. The House of Nature is a vast unspoiled wilderness, where animals roam unfettered across the plane. The True Glade of Eldath is marked by a ring of tall oak trees surrounding a burbling spring.
Great Wheel cosmology
In the Great Wheel cosmology, Eldath resides within her planar realm, known as the True Grove, which is located on Eronia, the second layer of the Blessed Fields of Elysium.
Worship
Eldath's priests do not organize themselves into large sects. Instead, most are itinerant, wandering between various holy sites and shrines, seeing that the locations are cared for and that they remain places of sweet serenity. The faithful of Eldath are usually close to nature, and allied to druids, who count Eldath among the First Circle. It is taboo to strike a priest of Eldath, and killing one is said to bring great misfortune. Despite the measure of protection that this belief affords them, most priests of Eldath avoid conflicts rather than attempting to quell them. Those who serve Eldath are happy to preside over peaceful negotiations and to certify treaties, but they can not force others to engage in harmony.
In Spelljammer
Eldath is a member of the Faerûnian pantheon and as such is considered native to Realmspace. A priests of Eldath loses access to all their spells once they enter wildspace. However, as soon as they enter the atmospheric envelope of a size A planet or larger, they immediately regain access to their spells.
