Kyriel Alathar Pellinore

"I like to buy a dozen belaying pins at a time.

"I like to buy a dozen belaying pins at a time. While I don't believe in beating obedience into a crew, I do believe in getting their attention."
- Kyriel Alathar Pellinore, Third Lord of Everlund and proud servant of Tyr

Overview

Kyriel Alathar Pellinore was the co-founder and leader of The Gauntlet, a company dedicated to the eradication of slavery within Realmspace. He also served as captain of their scorpionship, also known as the Gauntlet, which patrolled the Tears of Selûne on the lookout for illithid and neogi slavers.

Personality

Kyriel was driven by his hatred of those who would imprison and enslave the innocent. The fact that his family were never recovered only added to his anger and hate. Kyriel became stern and unyielding, and could no longer find humor in anything; he was instead wholly dedicated to the extermination of slavery within Realmspace.

Possessions

Kyriel possessed a unique set of plate mail of cleanliness, a sword of enemy detection, a ring of spell turning and an enchanted shield.

Relationships

Family

Kyriel was the son of Chiros Pellinore, and was married with three children. However, his wife and children were abducted by illithid slavers and he never saw them again.

Colleagues

Kyriel was the leader of The Gauntlet adventuring company, and served as captain of their scorpionship, the Gauntlet. He was aided by senior members of the Company, including the mages Cambrigha, Savion with the Eleven Fingers and Vom of the Protectorate, as well as the priests Liasa, Sunea, and Kierie.

Tutelage

Kyriel's squire was a young paladin named Ansalok, who was a junior member of the The Gauntlet.

History

Kyriel Alathar Pellinore was a former member of the Council of Elders of the city-state of Everlund on Toril in Realmspace and a member of the Lord's Alliance. Officially an Elder of Everlund, Kyriel felt that he was too young to be considered an elder, preferring instead the titles "Third Lord of Everlund" and "Proud Servant of Tyr".

While away serving on the Council, an illithid slave ship abducted nearly 200 people, including Kyriel's wife and three children. When the Council proved to be unable, or unwilling, to do anything about the atrocity, Kyriel resigned his post and went on a quest to locate the blue-skinned giants who reputedly could help him reach the stars. It was while he was on his quest that he met like-minded individuals who would join him to form what would become The Gauntlet.
